I just got back from a week in Anaheim, CA….what a beautiful city and great weather. I saw only a little bit of it as I walked from the Anaheim Hilton to the convention center….so the little I was out in was beautiful!
The Craft and Hobby Association (CHA) Trade show is the world’s largest craft show! There are over 40,000 people who attend, anyone from magazine editors, book editors, manufacturer’s, designers, professional crafters, licensing agents, and of course retailers, etc. Retailers can be anyone who owns a store front, or web e-store. All of the above attend to find out the newest trends and products in the industry. Which is a very big industry!
I went to the show to work for Walnut Hollow. They are a company that manufacturer’s wood and paper products, as well as hot tools for all types of crafting. I spent most of my time demonstrating how to use the Versa-tool, Creative Textile Tool, and the Leather Branding tool. What a great week it was to meet so many creative people at the show. Walnut Hollow won the innovations award for their line of “Design for Her Tools.”
I did get a few breaks to check out the hustle and bustle on the show room floor. CHA still remains to be, for the most part, a scrapbookers haven. There were so many new ideas on how to make up a scrapbook page or use products to embellish other new surfaces, such as wood, etc. Scrapbooking seems to be moving onto new surfaces.
I went to a special event where Martha Stewart announced that she will be coming out with a craft line this summer. She gave a slide show of the many craft experiences she has had. I was so impressed with all of the photos she has in her magazine, as well as the quality of her own crafting adventures with rubberstamping, etc.
I had a wonderful time with visiting so many friends in the industry!
