Beginner's Quilt-Along

Hi everyone!

There is a fun new block-of-the-month going on right now! It is called The Beginner's Quilt-A-long! Click on the icon in my sidebar to get started! There are three different 12" finished blocks available right now and 8-9 more on the cutting block, so-to-speak! haha

Each week, you'll receive Beginner’s Resources, for example, links to videos, tutorials and even a few products that make your quilting easier and more accurate.

All of the blocks are traditional blocks that have been around for many years. They are all based on a 3×3 grid, meaning each block has three rows and three columns.
The first block is the 9-patch, once sewn, the 9-patch can be cut up and made into  the disappearing 9-patch (also called the charm square quilt, see below). More photos here.

Here is a sample using fabrics.
Here is a collection of quilts made from just using the 9-patch block! Aren't they pretty, considering how easy the block is! This block is GREAT for using up small scrap pieces. Use the scraps in the black area of the block above and then use a "common" fabric through out the quilt, this will
unify the quilt and help the scrappy fabric work well together.
Below is the disappearing block.
Check out this Spinning Nines Table Runner Tutorial. Looks complicated right? It’s not, she starts with 9-patches, cuts them and sews them back together. I've never seen this method,
and it looks like a lot of fun!

I hope you all join in on the fun!
