Fall Quilt Market 2013 - Schoolhouse

Hi everyone!

What a great day! I LOVE schoolhouse at quilt market! I woke up early to be at the schoolhouse schedule handout at 7:30am. If I was one of the first 1000 to get my schedule, then I would get a free gift from Andover Fabrics. Which was a tote bag made out of their new line of .....get this..... "Downton Abbey" fabric! They had about 6 different styles of totes, I got one that I LOVE. Here it is:

Isn't the fabric beautiful. Later on in the day, I attended one of the classes and received another bag, and it is another cute bag! Well, here it is: Andover fabrics website.
And GUESS what? After everyone left, I asked if I could have an extra bag for a giveaway on my blog, just for you sweet folks! It is double layered and has straps that go down into the bottom seam, so, it is strong!  Please make a comment and let me know what fabric line you like on Andovers website!

I went to so many classes, today and learned so many things about what is coming out as far as fabrics, product, etc. AND, I was able to get extra samples to pass along to my readers!

I'll add more things through the next month, so keep posted! If you aren't following me, yet, please do so, so you don't miss a post!

Here are a few pics of the day.
Above is a fun pattern by Kimberbell Designs, she sells her patterns at her twin sisters shop called, "My Girlfriends Quilt Shop," in Logan, UT. They have so many cute patterns and blocks of the week programs.

Edyta Sitar, fabric designer for Moda Fabrics, is always so fun to listen to with her cute accent and funny humor. I'll add more pics when I get home, I'm having a terrible time trying to insert photos in my iPad, not all of them are showing in the App.

Moda had all of their designers talk about the alphabet, each one was assigned a letter and asked to make a quilt block with their letter. Moda gave each of us a pattern booklet with the patterns and I have an extra one to give to one of you! I'll announce it another day! So keep track of my posts, here is a pic:

I saw Heather Bailey's class and she has some fun new fabric coming out called, Lottie Da...and guess what, I won three fat quarters!
Last week I won a whole set of fat quarters from her website, and hopefully they will be waiting for me, when I get home.
No lunch break for me...snacked on snack bars a few times throughout the day...who has time for lunch when you can see fabric and quilt stuff!? Right?

After the day of classes, I attended an event put on by Fabric 2.0 and Craftsy, C&T publishers, and F&W media (publishers) there were swag bags for the first 200 attendees to register, I was too late, but, the food and chatter was yummy!

Time for this tired girl to relax, my feet must have walked over 10miles today! Wish I'd turned on my stepping app! I will tomorrow.

Night,
xoxo
Denise

  2. I'd say you scored today! I can hardly wait to see some of the other things you got. At Andover, I thought my fav was Prairie Rose and then I saw English Rose. I am so confused. I like them bloth. I like the contrast in the fabrics in the Prairie Rose collection. The fabrics in the English Rose need some pop for me. I'd have to really add some additional fabrics for sure for some pop factor. Of course, I'd add some "solid" fabrics to each anyhow. I like some "solids" in my quilts. Thanks for a great post. I can tell you are having a great time.

  19. I just discovered your blog and have enjoyed reading about your experiences at Quilt Market in Houston. Thanks so much for sharing. Since I live on Maui, I tend to go to PIQF in CA, since it is closer. This makes me want to go to Houston next year! I like the Downton Abbey fabric but I also love the Hungry Caterpillar fabric. It would be so fun to work with for some of my 12 grandchildren!
