I was so excited when I got the new Holiday 2013 Issue of The Quilter Magazine in the mail! That means that my Snowman and Christmas Tree Mug Rug patterns were published and on the shelves!

Here is the magazine cover:

Holiday 2013 issue

And here are my cute little mug rugs, featured on Page 76!

Christmas Tree and Snowman Mug Rugs by Denise Clason

Have you heard of mug rugs? They are little quilted placemats for your cup of tea, cocoa, coffee, etc. I think they can even be used in place of any "coaster" need...so, don't be afraid to use them for iced tea, soda, etc. too!  Now, be assured... There is plenty of room for a little plate to hold your favorite cookie, or muffin, or whatever! I love how fun they are.

These cute little "mug rugs" are perfect for a gift for a birthday or christmas or holiday! Check out the varieties on Pinterest!

***What design would you like to see on a mug rug?***
Please leave a comment and follow me to be entered! I'll have a "giveaway" and whomever wins, will receive a custom mug rug!
(I will  need to have a minimum of 50 comments and follows to pick from, so let your friends know!)
Entry ends on October 11th @ 6pm Pacific Standard Time.

If you make some, please take a photo and I'll post it on this blog!

  1. I think for Christmas a cute little pair with Santa on one and Mrs. Claus on another, I'm picturing the cute little couple as smiling, round, happy. These would make cute gifts to take along for a host or hostess gift.

  8. I think a set of 4 or so mug rugs would be cute. You could have a set for each holiday; each different but following the same theme. The possibilities are endless. I came over from Christa's blog. Thanks for the opportunity to win your book! I would love to have a complete guide on how to make different bags. They can be tricky :). I love your trick or treat bag. So cute... My daughter's bday is on Halloween so we do it up. I may make treat bags from your tutorial. Thanks for the neat ideas. I will be back...

Since mug rugs are to protect your table from hot mugs, I would like to have a design of coffee/tea mus in a cartoon'ish style, maybe with a smiley face or winky eyes.

  16. I've done so many "cute" charity quilts for Mayo Clinic/St. Mary's Hospital Pediatric Infusion Therapy Unit (kids' chemo unit) that I'm ready for something grown up just for me! I would choose a mug rug in gorgeous jewel-tone batiks, preferably in purples and greens in a simple pattern. I saw your blog on Christa's blog also.

  51. Well I love fall so much, cooler weather, beautiful leaves falling and Turkey Day. My birthday is on Thanksgiving this year. But I would love a fall theme mug rug, so we could use at our Family Gatherings and can be a take home gift from me to my family. We have more people at Thanksgiving than at Christmas due to all the other gatherings Family members have during those busy Christmas Holidays. Congrats on the Quilters Magazine, can hardly wait to pick up my copy.

Have you published the snowman as a table topper/runner before? I was at a quilt retreat and saw one in a magazine. Someone must've liked it too becaue the picture was there but the instructions were torn out. I was soooo excited to see the snowman again!

    1. Thank you Cindy! I'm so glad you like my little snowman. No, I haven't used him for a topper or runner, but, plan to...keep posted! But, he was featured on the cover of Sewing Savvy magazine a few years back.

  61. I think I'd like to make a batch of pumpkin/fall leaves/acorns for my favorite time of year! FALL!!! Your designs are great and really like the embellishments -- because it doesn't take too much. Oooooh, a batch of snowflakes with crystals would be great for January. I can see how these will be like eating potato chips -- can't eat/make just ONE! Thanks for the inspiration!
